Match week 8 was a shakeup for many of the seven sister clubs of Serie A.
Most notably, Napoli overtook 1st place (18 points) after toppling Inter Milan 3-1 over the weekend. Kevin De Bruyne's 33' penalty led the way before Scott McTominay's 54' snapshot volley finish added to the tally. Inter's Hakan Calhanoglu narrowed down the deficit to a 1-goal margin with his 59' penalty goal, but it was quickly answered with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa's final 66' goal. Despite Inter out-shooting (11 shots) and out-possessing (56%) their Naples opponent's they dropped to 4th place (15 points) after the bout.
Roma escaped Sassuolo 1-0 yesterday with a 16' goal coming from Paulo Dyabla, allowing the Yellow and Reds to overtake Inter in 2nd place with 18 points.
AC Milan could've finished the weekend at the top of the table, but ultimately slipped to 3rd place with 17 points after a 2-2 draw with Pisa. Milan's Zachary Athekame's 90+3' game tying goal saved a crucial point for the Rossoneri who dominated the match with 21 shots and 68% possession.
Bologna and Como 1907 continue to impress Serie A fans, yet both sides dropped points in a 2-2 and 0-0 draws, although they still sit above both Atalanta and Juventus on the table in 5th (14 points) and 6th (13 points) place respectively.
The drama continues tomorrow with more Serie A action, starting with Lecce vs Napoli before heading into a classic AC Milan vs Atalanta matchup in a hectic matchday 9 of the Italian League.
