Liverpool find a way past Inter, Man City dismantle Madrid, Arsenal stay on top in the UEFA Champions League

Inter Milan and Real Madrid lose their 2nd Champions League game of the campaign while Arsenal runs away with a perfect 6 game streak.


Inter Milan vs Liverpool



Liverpool spirits are high after a close 1-0 victory over the formidable opponent's of Inter in the UEFA Champions League this week. The Italian side has lost their last 2 Champions League matches to drop to 7th place, while the Reds bolster their stance in 10th place with their 4th win of the campaign. The game was down to the wire, with both sides firing off 12 shots, with Liverpool putting 6 on target compared to Inter's 2. A late 88' VARed penalty decision was given, allowing Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai to confidently send Liverpool over the edge with the only goal of the game, and his 2nd in two games in all competitions.



Manchester City vs Real Madrid



Manchester City redeem themselves after their 2-0 loss to Bayern Leverkusen in the Champions League with a crucial 2-1 result over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu to put them at 4th on the UCL standings. Madrid lose their 2nd Champions League game of the season, and 2nd home game in a row after winning 11 straight games in Madrid since the Club World Cup, putting them at 7th place in the Champions League. Real Madrid did showcase plenty of chances with 17 total, but only 2 on target, leading to the 1st goal of the game in the 28' minute by Real's Rodrygo. City responded promptly with 7 shots on target and a 35' rebound tucked away by Nico O'Reilly. A first half video-reviewed penalty call allowed City's Erling Haaland to tuck home the 43' game winner giving City a much-need away victory.


Arsenal vs Club Brugge



Arsenal find no change in their crusade of the top spot this year with an easy 3-0 win over Club Brugge to give the Gunners their 6th win in the Champions League to be the only team with 18 points in the league phase. Both sides did commit 16 shots, although 13 of Arsenal's were on target, leading to a first half goal off the crossbar in the 25' by Noni Madueke, followed up by his brace in the second half in the 47'. Gabriel Martinelli added to Arsenal's insurance with a 56' finish to give the Young Gunners their 15th shutout win of the season.


Champions League takes a break until January 20, as clubs return back to their countries for more domestic league action resuming this week, so be sure to stay tuned for more Champions League news.
