FC Barcelona experienced several hardships since their previous 2-1 Champions League loss to PSG at home, including an uncharacteristic 4-1 defeat to Sevilla, allowing Real Madrid to leapfrog them in 1st place in La Liga. Their 2-1 win over Girona at home on October 18th was far from impressive, but an important 3-points in the Spanish League nonetheless.
Today, Barca had a different tune to their step in the UEFA Champions League, as the team fired off 6 goals against a defenseless Olympiacos. Fermin Lopes led the way with a hatritck completed in the 76'. Lamine Yamal ended his goal drought with a 68' penalty, and Marcus Rashford continued his UCL dominance with another brace in the 79'.
The 17-year old Barca midfielder Dro Fernandez became the 2nd youngest player to provide an assist on his Champions League debut, while teammate substitute Roony Bardghji earned his first Champions League assists for the club, and an impressive one at that.
Along with an unfortunately harsh red card given to Olympiacos's Santiago Hezze in the 57', the Catalonians dished out 14 shots, 9 on target, while dominating 69% in possession.
Barcelona will head back to LA Liga next weekend for a highly anticipated El Classico matchup against league leaders of Real Madrid.
